# Maintaining the Connectedness Atlas

This static web application and research collection is a programme by Bernat Espigulé. Definitions, source data and display conventions remain traceable as the interface develops.

| Path | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| `index.html`, `programme.css`, `programme-shell.mjs` | Programme page, shared style and navigation. |
| `app.js`, `torus-renderer.js`, `worker.js` | Three-orientation explorer and original radial computation. |
| `shared/` | Shared semilinear specimen computation and linked K/D viewers. |
| `atlas/` | Live six-locator atlas and preserved reference study. |
| `lab/` | Detailed DD sector survey, diagnostics and sessions. |
| `family-registry.js` | Original maps, normalization, contacts, domains and sources. |
| `tools/`, `tests/`, `qa/` | Independent rational verification and scientific/browser acceptance. |
| `data/`, `publications/` | Versioned catalogues and dated public research files. |
| `docs/`, `schemas/`, `examples/` | Human and machine-readable conventions. |

## Add a family

1. State its original maps, strict domain, source and mathematical conclusion.
2. Supply its canonical conjugacy. Reversing coefficients acquire a phase; an OD-to-DO conversion exchanges branches and symbolic addresses.
3. Keep plane orientation separate from zipper traversal. A presentation, a symmetry quotient and an ambient family are distinct records.
4. Add an independent check that could detect a composition, parity, contact or domain error.
5. Update the family reference and research ledger when the public claim changes.

## Revise a publication

Retain approved dated files unless the author requests withdrawal. Unapproved manuscript PDFs and source archives must not be published or restored from an older release. The main article and research companion currently have provisional titles and in-preparation status; the author must approve the exact files before release. The submitted 27 September BMD poster is the approved public poster. For an approved revision, verify its visible title, author, PDF metadata, layout and references, then update the catalogue. Keep the poster’s actual title when it differs from the article title.

Update `data/publications.json`, `data/publication-assets.json`, `citations.bib` and `CITATION.cff` together. Compute file sizes and SHA-256 digests after final compilation. Add arXiv or journal metadata only once it exists and has been verified. Programme authorship does not replace coauthorship on related publications.

Label compilation sources and full figure-regeneration archives according to their actual contents. Public source packages contain declared mathematical material. Private correspondence, planning notes and internal reviews are not publication assets. The catalogue does not grant an additional licence.

## Preserve survey identity

The DD laboratory’s 37 ordered fragments concatenate to 5,913,659 bytes with SHA-256:

```text
5d833a368c0a43405d512ecd0e5a7a53cddd19a019142b9ed9f6f05e94a64af9
```

Keep those bytes unchanged. A new search belongs in a new dataset with its domain, radial sampling, limits, flags and source revision. Mesh interpolation and denser rasterization do not replace the raw grid’s metadata. The full-angle live survey and the laboratory’s restricted sector are separate records.

Record re-entry bands and unresolved searches; a finite scan may miss narrow intervals. Applying branch exchange changes weight except at 1/2. The exact parameter shown, computed and exported must agree, including during interrupted travel.

## Validate a release

Serve the repository through HTTP, not `file://`. Runtime assets require no external fonts or npm installation. Browser test dependencies belong to the test environment.

Run the existing mathematical tests and the focused metadata check:

```sh
node --test 4D/tests/publication-integrity.test.mjs
```

Use the repository’s browser acceptance workflow for real picking, six locators, continuous travel, interruption, state restoration, independent views, quality settings, advanced layers, mobile layout and captured exports. Check GPU and supported fallback paths. A source-only pass does not establish correct browser rendering.

Review desktop, narrow-screen and high-resolution images. Compare embedded export state with the visible parameter and completed computation; a large canvas alone does not establish complete geometry. After checks pass, publish the reviewed revision and verify the public bytes against its manifest.

Mathematical research and original interactive designs are attributed to Bernat Espigulé. Earlier results, joint papers and assets retain their own authors and rights. Keep source references when extending the companion.
